The hotel offers its own sophisticated cocktail menu and frequently invites guest mixologists to tend bar in the Belle Epoque themed salons. It fills up early and doesn’t take bookings, so this is one where it pays to build in some extra wait time. As you might anticipate from the name, this small cocktail bar has crafted its identity around an Art Nouveau theme. This is a place where you can come and feel like a local, assuming you’re up for good food and drink. The current list is called the ‘Oishii menu’, a fusion between Mexico and Japan, and as such brings together ingredients of both countries and features fun references such as miso, ponzu, and tepache.

If you’re looking for a hidden gem, find the secret laneway off Elizabeth Street to discover this tucked-away cocktail bar. The alluring lounge is the perfect spot to enjoy a night cap or a few cocktails to start your night on a high note. The house cocktail menu offers yet more gin-based wonders, but they do understand some drinkers might prefer a different spirit altogether, so juniper refuseniks can visit and still find something to suit. It doesn’t take many people to fill this place, but if you catch it on some quiet late afternoon just after opening, or a midweek evening, it’s a chilled space for a quality drink. There’s logic and creativity here, and the mixology tends to be thoughtful but fun.
